Does LocalAI Translator need internet?
Once you download the AI model, the app works completely offline. Internet is only needed for the one-time model download and purchasing a Premium subscription.
Why is the model download so large?
The AI model (Gemma-3n) contains billions of parameters. The Basic model is ~3.2 GB and the Advanced model is ~4.3 GB. We recommend downloading via Wi-Fi.
My device is slow β what can I do?
Try the Basic model (3.2 GB) instead of Advanced. Closing background apps helps. GPU acceleration can be enabled in Settings for supported devices.
Are my translations and images private?
Yes! All processing happens entirely on your device. Your text, photos, and audio never leave your phone.
How does the free trial work?
You get 1 full day of free access β no credit card required. After that, the app continues in Freemium mode (~10 translations/day, free). Upgrade to Premium anytime via Google Play for unlimited use.
How accurate are the translations?
Accuracy varies by language pair and model. The Advanced model provides higher accuracy. AI-generated content may contain errors β verify important information independently.
